The person who introduced me to Tom Ford Amber Intrigue (currently exclusive to Harrods) proudly announced that the scent marks the brand’s first use of dates in a composition — to which my unspoken response was that if this is its primary selling point, then my recent views on TF have been accurate and it really is floundering. Not too long ago, you could be pretty certain that in any given year, you’d get at least one praiseworthy Ford release. Sadly, that no longer seems to be true.
